About Us

We are a church of about a hundred members from a remarkably wide range of ages and backgrounds united by our faith in Christ. Roughly half our members live in Greenham; others live elsewhere in Newbury or beyond.

St Mary’s is the (Church of England) Parish Church for Greenham, though our members come from a variety of church backgrounds.

Our vision is to be a church where;

- all are loved and valued

- we truly encounter the living God

- all are encouraged to find their role

- we make a difference to our community

- people are helped to find a living faith and grow as Christians

What is our Emphasis or ‘Spirituality’?

We believe the Bible to be God’s word, and seek to live by its teaching. We also believe god is alive and active through his Holy Spirit and that spiritual gifts are for today.

We have two different styles of worship. At 9.00am, there is a Traditional Communion service with organ and well-known hymns. The main 10.30 am service is informal, with a strong ‘family feel’, and the music is mainly modern worship songs.

Church history

St. Mary's Greenham boasts a fine example of Victorian art and architecture and part of it was built in the 13th century.

- How is Jesus relevant today?

These are some of the questions which the Alpha Course seeks to tackle.

Many people have already found this 10 week Course extremely helpful, and hundreds of churches across the country are using it.

The next Alpha Course is due to start in September 2008.
