About Us
We
are a church of about a hundred members from a remarkably wide range
of ages and backgrounds united by our faith in Christ. Roughly half
our members live in Greenham; others live elsewhere in Newbury or
beyond.
St
Mary’s is the (Church of England) Parish Church for Greenham,
though our members come from a variety of church backgrounds.
Our vision is to be a church where;
All are loved and valued
We truly encounter the living God
All are encouraged to find their role
We make a difference to our community
People are helped to find a living faith and grow as Christians
Our Values: Following Christ Together
By being:-
True to the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, having power to challenge us and change our lives.
Open to the Spirit
To live as God intends we need the presence of the Holy Spirit active in our lives and empowering us to follow Jesus.
Fervent in Prayer
To follow Christ we need to keep in close relationship with the Father through prayer as we seek his will and his help.
Reflecting God’s love
As we receive from God we desire to demonstrate and share his love with our friends and the community.
Following in the footsteps of the Son,
living in the Spirit’s power,
to show the Father’s love.
Style of worship
We
have two different styles of worship. At 9.00am, there is a Traditional
Communion service with organ and well-known hymns. The main 10.30
am service is informal, with a strong ‘family feel’,
and the music is mainly modern worship songs.
Church History
St. Mary's Greenham boasts a fine example of Victorian art and architecture and part of it was built in the 13th century.
