Children's work

We run several groups for children; some with a community emphasis, others for young members of the church. From September 2010 we continue to have Gemma Wilkinson with us, our full-time Careforce youth worker, and we will be joined by Sam Holmes from The Wirral. He will be studying for a degree in Youth Work and be based with us for the next three years.

SUNDAY CHURCH FOR CHILDREN

The below groups run every Sunday morning during the 10.30am service, except for the first Sunday of every month when there is an all-age family service in the main church building for everyone to enjoy together.

Crèche (0 yr olds)
A pleasant room with toys is available at the back of the church during the main 10.30am service. Parents can take their babies there when they wish; the service is relayed to the crèche room through a speaker system.

Toddler Play (1-2 yr olds)
This takes place during the 10.30am service, in the church hall (just next door). This group sometimes joins in with the 3-4 yr olds when appropriate.

All Stars (3-11 yr olds)
The main Sunday group for children is called "All Stars" and takes place during the main 10.30am service.

Children join the adults in the church for the first 10 minutes of the main service and then go to church hall (just next door) for their groups.

All Stars groups are split by age:
3-4 year olds
5-7 year olds
8-11 year olds

SMASH (St Mary's After School Hour)
This takes place on alternate Fridays, by invitation. Activities include Games, Craft work and Bible spot.

It will be at a slightly different time this term: 6.15 – 7.30pm.

Junior Magnet
6.15pm to 7.30pm
For school years 4-6 (8-11 year olds)
This is our junior youth club and is held on the alternate Fridays to SMASH.
50p entrance fee.
Activities include Indoor Football, Games, Crafts, Tuck Shop, Cooking etc.

SPLAT are a team who come from The Berkshire Association of Clubs for Young People with a van load of great equipment including scooter boards, box hockey and dodge ball.

The Alpha Course...

Do you have questions about the Christian faith?

These are some of the questions which the Alpha Course seeks to tackle.

Many people have already found this 10 week Course extremely helpful, and hundreds of churches across the country are using it.
